After the passing of the president of the United Arab Emirates, the election of a new leader was a cause for celebration.
A delegation from the United States, led by Vice President Kamala Harris, will travel there to pay their respects to the former president.
Congratulations and Compliments
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan was applauded for his election by President Joe Biden on Saturday.
This was just a few hours after it was revealed that Harris would be travelling to Abu Dhabi the following week to attend the funeral of his predecessor.
This was the new president’s brother. Biden called Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan a “long-time friend.”
“As I told Sheikh Mohammed when we talked on the phone a few days ago, the United States is determined to honor the late president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan.”
“This will be done by continuing to strengthen the strategic alliance between our countries in the coming months and years,” Biden said.
On Monday, the third day of the three-day period of mourning, Harris will arrive in Abu Dhabi with a presidential envoy.
During this time, all federal institutions, as well as public and private organizations, will be closed in order to pay respect following the passing of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan on Friday.
Harris will be accompanied by a presidential delegation.

The leader of Dubai wrote in a letter to the ruler of Abu Dhabi, “We applaud him, we swear allegiance to him, and our citizens pledge devotion to him.”
“If God wills it, the entire nation is guided by him, and he is taking it down the roads that lead to glory and honor.”
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan received universal support in the election held a day following the passing of his brother.
He was the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, but after Sheikh Khalifa suffered a stroke in 2014, he also became the de facto ruler of the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Mohammed was hailed by the Federal Supreme Council as “a dedicated custodian of the Union and its gains at all levels” after his election on Saturday to a term that will last for the next five years.
